"NARINE" Dietary Lactic Acid Product

The fermented milk product “NARINE” is a therapeutic-preventive and dietary nutrition for children and adults based on a monoculture of lactic acid bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus MDC 9602 (MDC – Microbial Depository Center). The “NARINE” lactobacilli were isolated in 1964, thoroughly studied and characterized in the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR by a group of scientists under the guidance of Dr. Prof. L.A. Erzinkyan and deposited with the former Republican Center of Microbial Depository NAS of Armenia (1993). The serial production of “NARINE” (pasty, lyophilized) preparation was launched in “Armbiotechnology” SPC NAS RA in 2014 according to the Armenian Standard AST 173-2015. The fermented milk product “NARINE” is produced from natural pasteurized cow skim milk by fermentation with Lactobacillus acidophilus MDC 9602. Product has a delicate sour milk taste and flavor; milk color; its main property is expressed viscosity. Due to its unique biological formula the “NARINE” is widely used as a probiotic. The product has won the widest recognition as a therapeutic and preventive agent in various disorders of gastrointestinal tract. It plays an essential role for normalization of the intestinal microflora in dysbacteriosis of different origin and its aftereffects, including secondary immunodeficiencies and chronic fatigue syndrome. It is a mighty antioxidant, which removes radionuclides, toxins and various pathological agents from the human body. “NARINE” lactic acid bacteria are resistant to the impact of a series of antibiotics and chemotherapeutic preparations; have high antagonistic activity in relation to a wide range of pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic microorganisms (pathogenic agents of dysentery, enteric fever, salmonollosis, pathogenic Escherichia coli, streptococci, staphylococci, protea); recover proper normal intestinal microflora, as well as its motor function; promote synthesis of vitamins of B, C, E, P group, as well as of folic acid and biotin in the body. The fermented milk product “NARINE” is recommended for use to adults (up to 200 g daily) and children from six months as supplementary nutrition to the basic ration. The “NARINE” is realized in large pharmacy chains. The product under the terms of the "Law on public procurements of Armenia" is delivered to a number of kindergartens and maternity homes, as well as to the institutions in the system of the NAS RA. The dry product "NARINE" is a freeze-dried live culture of acidophilic lactic acid bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus MDC 9602. It can be used as a source for preparing starter cultures, and also as an independent therapeutic and prophylactic agent in the form of powders, gelatin capsules in combination with other drugs. Currently the SPC “Armbiotechnology” NAS RA produces “Narine” original, “Narine” fruit, “Narine” fruit-potable and “Narine” powder.
